The following steps were therefore taken:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The recovery of some old trails;<\/li>\n<li>The redevelopment and maintenance of the Val d&#8217;Orcia trails;<\/li>\n<li>Cataloguing itineraries;<\/li>\n<li>The promotion of the trail network through an informative publication containing descriptions, photos and maps of the routes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, educational events were organised for industry experts and key stakeholders to promote and disseminate the project.<br \/>\nThese activities were designed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a fair and broad understanding of the local area and the environment as a universal value;<\/li>\n<li>Lead to a rediscovery of the importance of the relationship between humans and nature.<\/li>\n<li>Develop useful links to promote local produce such as wine, oil, cheese and cereals;<\/li>\n<li>Diversify, de-seasonalise and expand the tourist offering by promoting environmental tourism (cycling, horse riding and hiking);<\/li>\n<li>Promote the environment and landscape through the network of trails.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The final outcome was the creation of the &#8216;Guide to the Trails of Val d&#8217;Orcia&#8217;, which was distributed at local tourist offices and sold in the shop on the official Val d&#8217;Orcia World Heritage website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Project funded through Italian Law 77\/2006<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Year 2008 <\/em><br \/>\n<em>Funding received \u20ac 20.000<\/em>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div><a
